RetroGAA Club "Giving it Back" Scheme

E-mail Print PDF

The giving it back initiative is a unique system that rewards our club with 15% commission of any purchase, that came through our club website. We have posted a banner on each page of the site that will click through directly to RetroGAA's website. So basically if a member or a friend of our club clicks through from our site to RetroGAA and purchases a jersey, we will will receive 15% of that sale.

Secondly there is a discount voucher code, where the club will be provided with a leaflet dispenser to be put in the Clubhouse. A member or a friend of the club can then take a voucher leaflet that will have its own unique code specifically for Thomas Davis and they can then enter the code on RetroGAA's website before they purchase and by doing this they will be giving your club, a percentage of the sale.

During these financially challenging times, this is an ideal way to help raise funds for the club.

World Cup Sweepstakes - Point Tally so far

 World Cup Sweep – Results

1 July 2010 - As we approach the Quarter Finals, the competition is narrowing down but there are still more than 40 coupons in contention for possible prizes. The highest points scoring teams from 7 of the 8 groups have now been established but crucially Group C remains very much in the melting pot. If Ghana can stay in the competition longer than Germany and outscore Germany on the Group C points table, there could be a big change in the leader-board.

The other factor that will have a significant bearing on the prize allocations is likely to be how the 2nd  (and possibly even 3rd) placed teams in each group do, relative to the leading team in their groups. The closer the second team in any group is to the winner in terms of points accumulated, the greater the likelihood of combinations including that second placed team being in the prizes. So, for example, combinations incorporating Portugal should now hope that Brazil don’t run away with the tournament. Got it? Yes, It’s complicated, but all will be played out over the next 10 days and 8 games! ADDENDUM: With only 4 games remaining, the allocation of prizes remains undecided although the top 3 combinations are opening a bit of a gap that will be difficult to breach. Watch this space.

The “Last 16 Losers” prize is also taking shape. 7 of the 8 combinations have been concluded with the prize now likely to fall between one of two coupons. The contending combinations are Mexico, Argentina, England, Germany or Ghana, Netherlands, Slovakia, Portugal and Chile. Provisional tally’s suggest that neither of the coupons incorporating these combinations have been sold, so the next lowest combinations substituting the USA for England, (with either Germany or Ghana) will provisionally fight it out for the prize money (€625). Coupon 4106 (Graham Gibbons, c/o John Duffy) will be the provisional winner if Ghana stay behind Germany in the points table, while Coupon 904 (Stella Ryan, c/o Daithi Ryan) will be hoping for Ghana to overtake Germany. Best of Luck to both.

Leader after group stages – After the 48 games played in the group stages of the World Cup, our provisional tally shows that coupon number 3437 (purchased by Veronica Smith, c/o Gary Kilmartin), with 70 points,  was the leader after the group stages and has been provisionally allocated the €625 prize for this placing.

Lowest Points Total – The lowest points prize remains open but is now down to two coupon holders. Coupon Number 6098 (held by Garrett Robinson, c/o Shane Devine) and Coupon Number 1399 (held by David Griffin, c/o Club) are tied on 37 points and with the same goal difference (-10) and goals scored (20). The combinations on both coupons are similar except, that No. 6098 contains Italy and No. 1399, contains Slovakia. Italy have exited and are finished. However, if Slovakia lose their Round of Last 16 game by more than one goal (thus staying on 37 points, but worsening the combined goal difference), Coupon 1399 will be the worst coupon and will win the prize for the lowest points total. If Slovakia, do any better than losing by more than one goal, the Lowest Points prizes will be provisionally allocated to Coupon No 6098. ADDENDUM 28 June 2010 – As Slovakia lost their round of last 16 game 2:1 to the Netherlands, the coupon with the lowest points total is Coupon No 6098 (Gareth Robinson, c/o Shane Devine) to which the prize of €625 has been provisionally allocated.

“***  The Executive Committee of Thomas Davis reserve the right to re-assess the above and subsequent prize allocations and provisional points tables in the light of all prize claims received by 9pm on 14 July.
